ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS

Every animal has special “tools” that help it survive. Students will observe taxidermy animals to discover their adaptations. Students will travel to stations and perform hands on experiments which will lead them to further discussion.

GRADES:   2-6

SEASON:  ALL YEAR  ~ 1 hour

LENAPE STORIES & GAMES: Native American Storytelling

Native Americans were game players and toy makers. Students will play games of skill and chance. They will make up a game using natural objects, listen to a Native American story and discuss its meaning. We will read a story using pictographs.

GRADES:   2-6

BIRDS

Why is bird different from other animals? Take a close look at the amazing adaptations of birds. Students participate in activities that include bird identification and preferred locations of bird habitats.

GRADES: 2-6

FOOD WEB

All things in life are interrelated. Students represent either a plant or an animal and are then physically tied in food chains that are connected to the sun. Students participate in a “play”about human food chains.

GRADES:   3-5 

SEASON:   ALL YEAR  ~ 1 hour

GEOLOGY - Rooted in Rocks

Students will discover how they are “rooted in rocks” and why rocks are an important part of their lives.They will perform a play about the Living Earth, become historical geologists and find out about the cycle of rocks.

GRADES:   3-6

ANIMAL SKELETONS

Bone for bone weare much the same as all other animals on the Earth. Students compare different animal skeletons, compare animals skulls, classify bones by shape and size. Look closely at animal skulls and their teeth to determine what they eat.

GRADES:   K-6
