Join our Nature Sketch Group and slow down with us for a creative connection to the outdoors. We’ll meet at the Nature Center, take a short walk together, and settle into an inspiring natural spot to sketch and observe. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just enjoy being creative in nature, all skill levels are welcome.
We can provide mats to sit on during our sketching session, or feel free to bring a portable chair if that’s more comfortable for you. Bring your favorite sketching materials and enjoy a relaxing time of art, observation, and community in the beauty of nature.

Spend a relaxing morning crafting in nature. Knitting and crocheting have been shown to reduce stress and promote well-being, and enjoying these activities outdoors adds even more benefits. This welcoming group is open to all skill levels—from complete beginners to experienced crafters. Help with patterns, yarn selection, and techniques is available.

PAPER MAKING WORKSHOP USING INVASIVES

In this hands on workshop, participants will learn how invasives such as mugwort, can be transformed into handmade paper. After harvesting invasives from the landscape, we will explore the full papermaking process - from soaking and cooking the plant fibers to creating finished sheets, using traditional mold and deckle techniques.
FROM PERCH TO PAPER: SKETCHING SONGBIRDS

Learn to capture the personality and movement of your favorite songbirds on paper with local naturalist and wildlife illustrator Jack Hobe. In this hands-on workshop, Jack will share techniques for making quick, loose sketches of birds before they fly away, along with simple approaches to drawing feathers, wings, tails, feet, and distinctive markings.
Birds can be challenging—and sometimes uncooperative—subjects! By combining his passion for birding and illustration, Jack will help participants break down complicated feather patterns, recognize basic forms, and use a bird’s movement, posture, and behavior to create more natural sketches.
No previous art or drawing experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome. Bring a sketchbook or paper and a pencil. Colored pencils or watercolors are optional for those who would like to add color to their work.
