Spend your summer exploring forests, streams, and wetlands while inspiring the next generation of nature lovers. The Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center (PVNC) are seeking energetic and enthusiastic Summer Camp Counselors to lead outdoor adventures for children ages 5–12. Located in beautiful Peace Valley Park, PVNC offers a unique setting for hands-on environmental education and summer exploration.


Under the direction of the Environmental Education Manager, counselors will guide campers through a variety of activities including nature hikes, games, arts and crafts, habitat exploration, and aquatic activities. Counselors also supervise children during choice time, help maintain teaching spaces and supplies, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for every camper. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in environmental education, early childhood education, or outdoor recreation careers.


Position Details

Compensation: Range of $16.00-- $20.50per hour commensurate with experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM

Position Type: Full-time, seasonal

Camp Season: June 15 – August 7 (except July 1–5)

Required Paid Training: June 10, 5:00–6:30 PM


Qualifications

Applicants must be 18 years or older and have the education or experience needed to work effectively with children. A degree or current coursework in environmental studies, education, or a related field is preferred. Experience teaching or speaking to groups of children is a plus.


This position requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including sun, rain, mud, shallow water, and insects. Some lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Successful candidates must obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse, State Police Criminal History, and FBI Clearances upon hire.

Summer Internship:

Citizen Science Program Assistant

Description

Peace Valley Nature Center is offering a paid summer internship for a motivated student interested in conservation, citizen science, and environmental education. The Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center are seeking a Summer Program Assistant to help develop, coordinate, and support citizen science initiatives  across the Nature Center’s 750-acre preserve in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.


Working alongside PVNC staff, the intern will assist with planning and implementing projects such as wildlife monitoring, native plant  and animal inventories,  and community participation programs.


Responsibilities  will also include helping collect and organize field data and supporting public engagement efforts that connect visitors with conservation science. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in field research, conservation practices, and environmental education in a dynamic outdoor setting.


Peace Valley Nature Center features 14 miles of hiking trails, diverse native habitats, a public nature center, and is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA). Interns will also have opportunities to visit sister nature centers and complete an independent research or work project during the internship.


Position Details

Location: Peace Valley Nature Center, 170 N. Chapman Rd., Doylestown, PA

Position: 1 Full-Time Paid Internship

Duration: 10–12 weeks (mid-May or June through mid- to late August 2026)

Schedule: 35–40 hours per week, including one weekend day

Compensation: $10.00 per hour



Qualifications

Applicants should have knowledge of native flora and fauna of the region  and have completed at least two years of college in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, or a related field. Candidates must be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
