Board of Directors
Meet the folks behind the scenes. The Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center’s Board of Directors is made up of a dedicated group of individuals who bring a wide range of experience, perspectives, and passions to their roles. United by a shared commitment to environmental education and conservation, our board members work collaboratively to support the mission of Peace Valley Nature Center and ensure its continued growth and success. From strategic planning to community outreach, they provide the support and guidance that help bring our vision to life.
Jane Bittner
President
Jane is a lifelong central Bucks County resident who grew up in Chalfont when the lake, park and nature center were being built. As a child, she spent many days in the woods at the Nature Center with Cory and her daughter discovering crayfish, turtles, fish, salamanders and snakes. She wants to share her passion for nature for years to come by supporting what she calls "our backyard gem", the Peace Valley Nature Center. Jane’s husband and two sons share her love for the outdoors and have travelled to see many National Parks together. She currently resides near the park with her husband and their dog Renny where they can regularly be found walking and cycling the trails.
Andrew Young
Vice President
Andy Young has been a longtime member and dedicated volunteer at Peace Valley Nature Center, where he regularly assists with habitat restoration projects. Professionally, Andy is an attorney, and he has enjoyed the beauty and community of PVNC for many years. His passion for conservation and his professional expertise make him a valuable contributor to the Friends board.
Rob Stephenson
Director
Rob grew up in Lancaster, PA, where he developed a passion for soccer, lacrosse, and the outdoors. He relocated to the Doylestown area in 2012 to continue his career in financial planning with Rockwood Wealth Management. His desire to preserve our environment is shared by his wife Lindsey and instilled in their two children, Thomas and Caroline. Outside of the office, you’ll find Rob and his family enjoying walks and hiking with their Golden Retriever, Sadie.
Ralph Kennedy
Treasurer
Ralph is a CPA/MBA with over 30 years combined experience in banking, insurance, and public accounting. He has a lifelong passion for nature and has been visiting Peace Valley Nature Center regularly since the early 1990s. He also enjoys visiting other parks, nature centers and National Wildlife Refuges, both locally and around the country. Ralph is a 30-year resident of Bucks County and has lived locally in Buckingham Township since the year 2000.
Anthony Volpe
Secretary
Anthony is a resident of central Bucks and met his wife while attending Central Bucks South. Currently, they reside north of Peace Valley Park with their two children, Rory and Colette. Anthony and his family enjoy going for hikes at Peace Valley, cycling along the Delaware canal, and socializing with friends. They are passionate about spending time outdoors and teaching their children about the importance of nature.
Jim Nangeroni
Director
Jim Nangeroni holds a doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. Prior to retiring in 2022, he worked for 35 years developing raw materials and applications for compostable bioplastics for NatureWorks LLC, the world leader in bioplastics. He holds dozens of patents globally for both the production methods and applications for bioplastics and has spoken extensively at conferences worldwide. A resident of Doylestown for 25 years, he has always appreciated the simple beauty of Peace Valley Park and is anxious to contribute to its continued growth as a member of the board.
Michael Carter
Director
Michael is a lifelong outdoorsman and has hiked extensively in the west and southwest. Peace Valley Park is one of the reasons Michael moved to Doylestown from the Philadelphia suburbs and he spends much of his free time kayaking, walking and biking at the Park.
Prior to his retirement, Michael was a partner with the worldwide Human Resources consulting firm, Hay Group (now Korn Ferry) for over 40 years and was the project manager for a three year project with the Congressional Research Service providing objective, nonpartisan advice on health care reform.
Jennifer Brown
Director
Jennifer Brown is a dedicated volunteer at Peace Valley Nature Center and a new member of the Friends board. Recently relocated to the area, Jennifer has quickly become engaged with PVNC and is eager to deepen her involvement in both board service and community events.
Jennifer holds a degree in Sociology from West Chester University, where she served as president of the Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society from 2020–2021. In that role, she gained valuable leadership experience through planning meetings, organizing fundraisers, collaborating with local businesses, and coordinating events with faculty and alumni.
With a flexible work schedule, Jennifer is committed to supporting PVNC’s mission by attending board meetings, participating on committees, and contributing to special events. Her background in leadership, event planning, and community collaboration makes her a strong addition to the Friends board as it works to connect people with nature and expand PVNC’s reach.
Zach Jarin
Director
Zach Jarin – Board Member, Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center
Zach Jarin has been deeply connected to Peace Valley Nature Center since childhood, inspired by the legacy of his grandmother, PVNC founder Corey Jarin, and his father, Andy Jarin. A lifelong supporter of the Center, Zach has volunteered in many capacities—from his high school graduation project clearing invasives and renovating trails to helping organize and run the annual Fall Harvest Sampler, where he has overseen the beer menu, food pairings, and sponsorship outreach.
Professionally, Zach draws on his retail management experience, which has strengthened his skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. Locally, he enjoys hiking the trails at PVNC as well as nearby High Rocks and Ralph Stover, and when traveling he seeks out other parks and nature centers.
Passionate about conservation and community, Zach is eager to bring both his energy and perspective to the Friends board, continuing his family’s commitment to protecting and enhancing Peace Valley for generations to come.
John B. Long
Director
John B. Long is the owner and President of the Point of Purchase Display Company LLBCo and lived in Doylestown for 26 years with his wife Cindy and their 3 boys. They spent a lot of hours, walking, fishing and biking through Peace Valley and were very active with the park and Cory Jardin. John and his wife now reside in Ottsville, Pa and grow organic vegetables and Fruit on their Farm on the backside of Nockamixon State Park. John brings a love of the outdoors plus 40 years of corporate experience to the board.
Andy Jarin
Director
Andy Jarin – Board Member, Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center
Andy Jarin brings both passion and heritage to his role on the Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center board. As the son of PVNC’s founder, Corey Jarin, Andy has a lifelong connection to the Center and its mission of connecting people and nature.
A dedicated community member, Andy combines his professional experience with a deep appreciation for conservation and environmental education. He supports initiatives that strengthen PVNC’s programs, expand community engagement, and ensure that the Center continues to thrive for future generations.
By carrying forward his mother’s vision, Andy helps guide the organization into its next 50 years of impact, honoring the legacy of the past while embracing new opportunities to inspire people to care for the natural world.
Bill Bothwell
Director
Bill, along with his wife, Hildy and their two children have been residence of New Britain Township for over 30 years. He is a graduate of Ursinus college with a BS in chemistry, Jefferson medical College with a medical degree, and completed his general surgery residency at Abington Memorial Hospital. Bill practiced surgery in Lansdale, serving this community for 30 years. After retiring from surgery, he now works and serves on the board of directors of his family‘s business, Primepoint, LLC in Westampton, New Jersey, a payroll and HRMS services provider. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Bill enjoys fishing, boating, hiking, skiing, and playing tennis with his wife.
Jeff Kul
Jeff Kuhl has been a Doylestown resident since 2020 and longtime visitor to Peace Valley Nature Center. He officially joined the Friends board to help advance its mission of connecting people and nature. With a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Master of Science Degree in Scientific Writing (Drexel University) and Business Administration (Temple University), Jeff brings both scientific expertise and business acumen to the board. Professionally, Jeff has worked at Johnson & Johnson for nearly 20 years, most recently in the Strategic Partnerships and Resource Group, where he focuses on building collaborations with academic and nonprofit institutions, as well as managing public-private partnerships. His experience in strategy, compliance, and communications adds valuable depth to PVNC’s long-term planning and funding efforts. As a father of two young sons who love exploring Peace Valley, Jeff is personally invested in ensuring the conservation and health of the Center’s natural resources for future generations.
