WORLD MIGRATORY BIRD DAY CELEBRATION

Saturday and Sunday, October 10th & 11th


Celebrate the incredible journeys of migratory birds during this two-day event dedicated to bird conservation, education, and community science. Most events are free ( donations kindly accepted) and some require registration.


SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10th will focus on creating bird-friendly habitats at home. Visitors will learn how to attract birds to their yards, earn Bird Friendly Yard recognition, and reduce common hazards to help keep birds safe. The day will also introduce participants to a variety of community science programs—including eBird, the Pennsylvania Bird Atlas, BirdSafe, and Project FeederWatch—showing how anyone can contribute to bird conservation.

2pm:                    Every Bird Counts – Ways You Can Help Birds with Community Science : All Ages


SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11th will highlight bird rehabilitation and appreciation. Learn how wildlife rehabilitators care for birds injured by window collisions, discover techniques for observing and sketching birds, and participate in a community science Big Sit/Hawk Watch. Additional bird monitoring projects and volunteer opportunities will also be featured, demonstrating how people of all ages can help protect migratory birds throughout the year.

Together, the weekend will inspire visitors to create bird-friendly communities, contribute to meaningful conservation efforts, and develop a deeper appreciation for the birds that pass through Peace Valley Nature Center each year.

 Exchange excess seeds with fellow gardeners, learn about new plant varieties, and connect with your local gardening community. Bring your extra seeds labeled with variety and growing conditions We recommend bringing a notebook and pen to record your traded seeds.
